Kathmandu City: Here you will visit the temple of the Living Goddess, who acknowledges the greetings of the devotees from the balcony of her temple residence. Kasthamandap – the source of the name Kathmandu and supposed to be made from the timber of a single tree and Durbar Square are with it’s array of temples overlooked by the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, the ancient residence of the Nepalese Royalty. Pashupatinath: Situated 5 Kilometers east of Kathmandu city, Pashupatinath temple is one of the holiest Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated amidst a lush green natural setting on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River, the temple built in pagoda style has gilded roof and richly carved silver doors. Visitors will be permitted to view the temple from the east bank of Rivers Bagmati, entrance in the temple being strictly forbidden to all non-Hindus. Pashupatinath is the center of annual pilgrimage on the day of Shivaratri which falls in the month of February / March. Behind the temples are the cremation grounds. Boudhanath: This Stupa, eight kilometers east of Kathmandu City is one of the biggest in the world of its kind. It stands with four pairs of eyes in the four cardinal direction keeping watch for righteous behavior and human prosperity. King Man Dev built this Buddhist stupa at the advice of Goddess Mani Jjogini. It is built on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheels. Houses of Lamas ring the shrine or Buddhist priests.

Pokhara Valley: The rare combination of snow clad peaks and snow fed lakes and rivers has helped to make the valley of Pokhara one of the most picturesque natural attractions in the Kingdom. Pokhara is the most popular destination in Nepal after Kathmandu. A must for all visitors to Pokhara valley is the Phewa Lake.The distance from Kathmandu – Pokhara is 210 km and takes about 5/6 hrs drive. Pokhara is the gateway to some of the most famous long-distance treks in Nepal; however there are plenty of rewarding short walks and day trips suitable for children or weary trekkers, which can be made around the valley.

The Fewa (or Phewa) Lake 1.5 kilometer long, second largest lake in Nepal, offers an excellent view of the mountains and their reflections on the lake. Many tours and trekking operators and hotels are located on the lakeside. One can easily find a place to sit back, relax and enjoy great meal while enjoying scenery here. You will also enjoy boating on the lake. Most hotels and guest houses have traditional designs and layouts which match with the surrounding views.

Today from Pokhara we drive to Nayapool. From Pokhara we take on an hour’s pleasant drive through mountain highway to Nayapool. Then we walk about 20 minutes on a level trail to Birethanti (1056) on the bank of Modi river where is a Annapurna Conservation area check post. From Birathanti the trail follows Bhurungdi river upto Tirkhedhunga (1577m). The trail is level and passes through several small villages on the way. Then the trail climbs through stone steps for about 1 ½ hrs to Ulleri – a large Magar village. There are several lodges and campsites.

From Ulleri the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. The fields soon give way to deep forests as the trail climbs to Banthanti. Beyond Banthanti, there are magnificent oak and rhododendron forests. Then we climb through forests all the way to Ghorepani – a pleasant village on ridgetop with excellent views of several peaks such as Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, Machhapuchre Hiunchuli, Tukche etc. Ghorepani means ‘horse water’ in Nepali. There is watering spot for the teams of horse, mules and ponies that carry loads between Pokhara and Jomsom.

We make an early morning excursion to Poon Hill, about an hour’s climbs, provides a breathtaking view of the high Himalayas. \From Ghorepani, the trail climbs through ridge with excellent Mountain View for about 1 ½ hrs. Then there is a steep descent to Banthanti with few teahouses. Another 1 ½ hrs walk through forests with short ups and downs will take you to Tadapani.

It is all downhill through forests to Ghandruk from Tadapani. Ghandruk is one of the most popular and beautiful village of Annapurna regions. It is second largest Gurung village of Nepal and supplies a considerable number of British Gorkha soldiers. There is headquarter of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) with a visitor center and daily documentary shows about the area.

From Ghandruk, the trail descends to the Modi river. A short climb through terraced fields will takes you a beautiful Gurung village of Landruk. Then there is pleasant level walk through the fields and villages. Finally there is a climb through forests to Deurali on a ridge top. There is a short descent to Pothana from Deurali. Pothana is a small pleasant village with few Tibetan shops. A unique view of Machhapuchre can be seen from the camp.

The entire trail from Pothana to Phedi is downhill. In the beginning the trail descends through rhododendron and pine forests to Dhampus, a beautiful Gurung village on a ridge top. Then the trail descends through terraced fields and small villages to Phedi. A short drive will take you to Pokhara from Phedi and rest day in hotel.

Early morning visit Sarangkot and rest of the day is free to explore on your own.

Drive back to Kathmandu and rest of the day free.

Sightseeing tour of Patan and Swayambhunath.

Patan: Patan originally known as Lalitpur, is situated on the southern bank of Bagmati river and is 5 Km southeast of Kathmandu. Its Durbar Square is an enchanting mélange of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples. Listed as a World Heritage Site, the former royal palace complex is the center of Patan’s religious and social life, and houses a museum containing an array of bronze statues and religious objects. One remarkable monument here is a 17th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu god Krishna, built entirely of stone. Equally well, the Tibetan Handicraft Center offers a close-eye witness to the makings of Tibetan and Nepali Handicrafts.

Swayambhunath: Located approximately 4 km/2.5 miles, this Buddhist Stupa this is said to be 2000 years old. The Stupa, which forms the main structure, is composed of a solid hemisphere of brick and earth supporting a lofty conical spire capped by a pinnacle of copper gilt. Painted on the four-sided base of the spire are the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. This hill is a mosaic of small Chaityas and Pagodas temples.

Visit Bhaktapur and Changunarayan.

Bhaktapur: Bhaktapur City founded in the 9th century is shaped like a conch shell. Located 4,600 above sea levels, the city boasts an array of Temples overlooked by the Palace with its 55 windows built by King Bhupatindra Malla. It is the best preserved of the three original cities of Kathmandu Valley, the other two being Kathmandu & Patan. We will also get to see the best example of the Pagoda style at the Nyatapola Temple.

Changu Narayan: Situated at the end is the long ridge which runs well into the Valley. It is said to have been built in 323 A.D. by King Hari Dutta Varma. The temple is richly decorated with sculptures and carvings. It is said to be the oldest temple in the valley. It is situated about 153m above the level of the Kathmandu Valley and affords a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. An all-weather motor able road connects it with the Bhaktapur city.
