The journey begins with a hotel pick-up and escort to the Kuranda Scenic Rail. World-renowned for its gorgeous route, this historic train charters you past cascading waterfalls and verdant rainforests. Arrive at Kuranda, the “Village in the Rainforest”, situated at the heart of this World Heritage Site, and spend some time shopping or snacking. After touring the quaint town’s streets, glide above the canopy of a UNESCO-listed rainforest on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Enjoy sweeping views of the valley, the snaking bends of the Barron River and the wild rapids of Barron Falls.
After you’re picked up from your hotel, drive in air-conditioned comfort along the Captain Cook Highway, weaving past bone-white beaches on your way to Port Douglas. Enjoy some free time to walk around the village and see Four Mile Beach, or head to the Wildlife Habitat to see some of Australia’s fascinating native animals. From there, ferry across the river and stretch your legs with a guided walk through the rainforest in Mossman Gorge National Park. Roam through the lush landscapes of the Wet Tropics, which is estimated to be more than 100 million years old and is home to 50 % of Australia’s plant and animal species. Stop at the Alexandra Lookout to gaze over the Daintree Rainforest and spot the outline of the Great Barrier Reef, and then break for lunch at the Cape Tribulation Beach House. Spend some time relaxing and swimming at the beach before stepping on board a river boat to cruise through the saltwater mangrove forests of the lower Daintree River. Watch for crocodiles lurking along the shore, and then begin the drive back to Cairns, stopping at the Rex Lookout for a dazzling view of the Coral Sea and the coastline along the way.
Good times mostly end leaving behind a trail of golden memories to cherish. After breakfast today, spend some time at leisure. Check out from the hotel and take a transfer to the airport to board a return flight.
